a STORY TO SAVE OUR SEAS
Originally from the warm waters near California, Finn was a dolphin who loved nothing more than catching waves, hanging with friends, and taking life one tide at a time. But as the climate down south began to change (both environmentally and politically) Finn was forced to head north in search of a new home.
When he arrived in Canadian waters, he was amazed by what he found: breathtaking coastlines, vibrant marine life, welcoming communities, and friendships that made him feel like he truly belonged. Before long, the world felt full of possibility. Life was good.
But slowly, Finn began noticing changes in the oceans around him. Waters were warming. Plastic pollution was spreading. Some of his friends were disappearing, while new dangers threatened the places he loved most. Deep down, Finn knew something was wrong, but he didn’t think there was much he could do about it. After all, he was just one dolphin… and surfing was the only thing he really knew.
Everything changed when the problems facing the ocean finally hit close to home. Watching his friends and his environment suffer made Finn realize he couldn’t just drift by and hope someone else would fix things. If he wanted to protect the ocean, he had to stop sitting on the sidelines and dive in headfirst.
Together with a fin-tastic crew of marine friends, Finn sets off on an unforgettable adventure across Canada’s Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans. Along the way, he encounters challenges like plastic pollution, climate change, and overfishing while meeting new allies, discovering incredible ecosystems, and learning what it truly means to stand up for something bigger than yourself.
As Finn’s journey unfolds, he develops courage, compassion, resilience, leadership, and the confidence to inspire others to take action too. He’s not perfect, and he’s still learning, but through every wave, wipeout, and adventure, Finn discovers the most important lesson of all: caring is cool!
It all starts with a ripple of courage…
THE TRIPLE PLANENTARY CRISIS
-

PLASTIC POLLUTION
Every year, millions of tonnes of plastic enter our oceans, harming marine life, damaging ecosystems, and even finding their way into the food we eat and the water we drink. From ghost nets and microplastics to single-use waste washing onto shorelines, plastic pollution has become one of the most visible signs of environmental degradation. Through Dolphin Dude, we hope to inspire audiences to rethink their relationship with waste and discover how small choices can have enormous impacts.
-

Climate change
Our oceans absorb over 90% of excess heat caused by climate change, making them one of the planet’s greatest protectors — but also one of its most vulnerable ecosystems. Rising temperatures, coral bleaching, sea-level rise, ocean acidification, and extreme weather events are already transforming marine environments and coastal communities around the world. Dolphin Dude aims to help young audiences understand these challenges through stories rooted in hope, resilience, and collective action.
-

Overfishing
Healthy oceans depend on balance, yet many marine species are being pushed beyond sustainable limits due to overfishing and destructive fishing practices. The loss of biodiversity doesn’t just impact sea life, it threatens food security, coastal livelihoods, and the health of entire ecosystems. Through relatable storytelling and engaging adventures, Dolphin Dude hopes to spark conversations about sustainability, stewardship, and the importance of protecting the incredible diversity of life beneath the waves.

NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN
Stretching along Canada’s west coast, the North Pacific is home to towering kelp forests, rocky islands, ancient rainforests, and some of the richest marine biodiversity on the planet. Inspired by the coastlines of British Columbia, these waters are filled with whales, salmon, sea otters, and vibrant underwater ecosystems shaped by powerful currents and deep connections between land and sea.
-

arctic ocean
Cold, vast, and constantly changing, the Arctic Ocean is one of the most unique and fragile marine environments on Earth. Surrounded by sea ice, glaciers, and tundra landscapes, these northern waters support incredible species like narwhals, belugas, seals, and polar bears while also playing a critical role in regulating the planet’s climate. Inspired by Canada’s Arctic, this environment highlights both the wonder of the North and the importance of protecting it for future generations.
-

north atlantic ocean
The North Atlantic has shaped the culture, communities, and stories of Canada’s east coast for generations. From rugged shorelines and fishing villages to crashing waves, lighthouses, and cold-water ecosystems, these waters are rich with marine life and maritime history. Inspired by the coasts of Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada, this environment reflects both the beauty and resilience of life by the sea.
